Powerslide Kids Skateboard Protective Pads

Sale Price: $44.90 Original Price: $49.90

We’ve been using these Powerslide pads at Frankie’s Wheels for more than four years now, and they’re still the pads our coaches recommend, especially for younger kids just starting out.

There are plenty of cheap kids’ pad sets online, including on Temu and similar sites, but for us this is one area where we don’t like to take shortcuts. With very small kids, the fit really matters. If the pads move around, feel too bulky or don’t stay in place properly, they can actually make learning harder.

What we like about these is that they are comfortable, secure and tough enough for kids to actually use properly. We teach kids that falling is part of skateboarding, so instead of being scared of it, we show them how to bend, protect themselves and, when appropriate, slide safely on their knee pads on smooth surfaces.

That is one of the big reasons we keep coming back to this brand. The hard knee shells are strong enough for kids to practise controlled knee slides, which helps them understand how to fall properly and can reduce the usual scratches, grazes and bruises that come with learning.

These aren’t pads we’ve just put on the website because they look good. We’ve used them in our lessons for years, our coaches know them well, and they’re the ones we are happy to recommend to parents looking for a good quality set for a young beginner.

For kids learning to skateboard around Lane Cove, Ryde, Gladesville and Sydney, this is the type of protection we prefer to see them wearing.
